Renting in Dubai, the questions we are asked most

What do I need to rent a home in Dubai?+

A passport copy, your visa or Emirates ID, and the rent by post-dated cheques or bank transfer, usually in one to four instalments. Landlords ask for a refundable security deposit, typically 5 percent of the annual rent for an unfurnished home and 10 percent for a furnished one.

What is Ejari and who registers it?+

Ejari is the Dubai Land Department's tenancy registration. Every lease has to be registered to be valid for utilities connections, residence visas and any dispute. We register it for landlords and tenants as part of every letting.

Can the rent be increased at renewal?+

Only within the limits of the RERA rental index, which caps an increase according to how far the current rent sits below the market rate for the building, and only with 90 days' written notice before the renewal date.

Do you manage the property after it is let?+

Yes. Our property management service collects the rent, coordinates maintenance, handles renewals and Ejari, and deals with the tenant day to day, so owners abroad never have to chase anything.
